Burn 130 calories by doing this at work

According to a study in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, standing at your computer while working doesn’t burn too many calories. If you were to compare standing to sitting at your desk over a 15 minute period, standing would only burn about 2 or 3 more calories. But walking…that’s a different story!

Walking burns almost three times as much calories as sitting. You don’t have to walk fast either. A slow pace, as if you were enjoying a stroll outdoors, is fast enough.

The same aforementioned study found that sitting for an hour burns about 20 calories, while standing burns about 22. And walking? You’ll burn about 130!

But of course you probably don’t have a treadmill desk at work, right? So, do the next best thing: add more walking throughout your day.

  • take a 5 minute walking break every hour
  • take the stairs whenever possible
  • walk to the water cooler regularly
  • park as far as possible from the front door of your building

If you don’t work out or play sports but are still actively trying to lose weight, increasing how much you walk throughout the day is pretty much the next best thing to keeping you on track to maintaining those CoolSculpting results!
