Oily skin is a mixed blessing – on one hand it can significantly delay the onset of those wrinkles that a Toronto BOTOX can fight off, but on the other you have to live with a persistent shine, which only gets worse right now, in the summer!

Here’s what you can do to help minimize the shine and oil production.

• Switch your usual skincare products. Heavier lotions and creams may help keep your skin supple in the winter, but are probably too rich for the summer when humidity levels are higher. Lighter products will most likely provide sufficient moisture right now, since your skin will also be able to get hydration from the environment. If you have really oily skin, try products that are mattifying and fight the shine, available as cleansers to moisturizers. Complete with the application of a mattifying powder before you go out.

• If you need serious help with oily skin, topically applied salicylic acid, like the one offered with the Toronto chemical peel, can fight excess sebum production.

• Resist the urge to wash your face. This habit will just dry it out. Even though it will clear away oil at that moment, in a few minutes your face will get oilier than before because your oil glands will react to the dryness by simply producing more. It’s better to carry around oil absorbing sheets and dab them on your face.
