4 Ways to Even Out Your Self Tan

We know you know that tanning is bad for your skin. After all, a tan is really just your body’s reaction to UV radiation. It shows that your skin is damaged, and the long term effect is aged and weatherbeaten skin. Wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, redness and roughness aren’t worth it!

Fortunately, you can still get that sun kissed look without the actual sun. All you need is a little self-tanner or bronzer and voilá – you’ll look like you just spent a month on the coast of Ibiza, but without the long term side effects.

But it does take practice to get an even look. So, if you need to even out product, don’t start vigorously scrubbing away the darker spots to do it. Try one of these tips:

  1. Use a microfibre cloth to gently rub away excess product. Your skin should be wet and use circular motions.
  2. Take a bath in water mixed with bath oil. The bath oil helps to make the tanning product easier to remove with a cloth. Again, use circular motions.
  3. A homemade exfoliant of sugar and lemon can help.
  4. Even the most stubborn of products won’t last in a chlorinated pool. The chlorine will make it so much easier to remove.
