Where can Dysort® be used?
Dysport® has a growing number of uses, it can ease muscle spasms, flatten wrinkles, and modify the jawline! Dysport® targets glabellar lines, these are vertical wrinkles that are located on your forehead. They most often start to form in between your eyebrows during early adulthood, and can become more prominent as you age due to a decrease in your body’s production of elastin. They can also become more noticeable when you squint, giving you a frowning or angry appearance. Dysport® is Health Canada and FDA-approved for use in the treatment of lower limb spasticity in children, spasticity in adults, and cervical dystonia, which affects neck and head movement.

Learn How Dysport® works:
Dysport® is an injection containing abotulinumtoxin A (Botulinum toxin type A). Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscles, causing a temporary reduction in muscle activity. Dysport® belongs to a class of injections called neuromodulators. Other injections in this class include Botox and Xeomin. These all use a form of botulinum toxin, but are used to target different areas of the face.
Neuromodulators like Dysport® reduce the appearance of lines by relaxing and limiting the movement of muscles around the injection site. Your injector will insert a small amount of the substance directly into your muscle. As your muscles relaxes, the skin above it becomes smoother, thereby reducing wrinkles. Decreasing movement is meant to prevent the formation or deepening of wrinkles, which are caused by repetitive movements over time, along with your genetics and aging.

Dysport® is a prescription injection that smooths moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, acting quickly and lasting long without altering the rest of your face’s look or movement. Containing AbobotulinumtoxinA, which reduces muscle movement to diminish glabellar lines and prevent future wrinkles.
A licensed physician will discuss your goals, assess the target area, and explain the procedure and potential side effects like swelling and temporary discomfort. Preparation may include avoiding blood thinners, taking Arnica pills, and considering anti-inflammatories like pineapple.
All Dysport treatments are conducted by a certified medical injector, ensuring safety and privacy within our medical clinics. You have the flexibility to choose from any of our 14 locations across the Greater Toronto Area, based on your convenience. Our clinics are situated in Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, London, Ajax, Richmond Hill, Kitchener, St. Catharine’s, Milton, Burlington, Stoney Creek, Hamilton, Whitby, and Barrie.
Some may experience a brief headache after Dysport treatment. To reduce risk, avoid aspirin products before and after the injection, using Tylenol if needed. Staying relaxed during the injection can also help prevent headaches. Temporary bruising or swelling may occur, but a skilled injector minimizes lasting discomfort. After treatment:
– Avoid rubbing the treated area
– Stay upright for four hours
– Avoid exercise for the rest of the day
– Apply a cold compress to reduce minor side effects like bruising and red spots
During your initial Dysport treatment, your injector will review your medical history, address concerns, and mark targeted areas. The 10-20 minute procedure uses a fine needle to minimize discomfort, feeling similar to a small insect bite. If you have a low pain tolerance, ask about a topical numbing cream. Full effects appear in 24-72 hours, with results assessed after 1-2 weeks.
