Makeup tips for older women

The key to aging gracefully is to embrace your maturing appearance. You’ve got wrinkles…so what? You can control them to a certain extent by non-surgical skin tightening treatments, but don’t try to erase every little crease and line from your face, because you won’t look natural.

Now, on to the makeup…

When it comes to makeup, you’ll want to enhance your appearance. The end result is to look better, and not just younger. Makeup pros agree that you should strive to look fresh and rejuvenated, not “made up” like you once did in your 20s and even 30s. So, ditch the glitter gloss, clumpy mascara and cakey foundation and remember these things:

1. Never used powders. Always use cream-based products.

2. Don’t try to restore your brows to their former glory, because it could look scary. Experiencing some brow loss with age is just a fact of life that you’ll have to deal with. If you want to fill them out a bit, try some eyeshadow instead of pencil for a softer, more natural effect.

3. Avoid applying too much mascara. Stick with one or two sweeps at the maximum.

4. Don’t pile on the under eye concealer in an effort to hide your bags. It will end up looking gunky and even highlight the area you want to hide!
