Fat Freezing Toronto
Want to know something Cool? Feeling good about yourself again? Getting your confidence back? Fitting into your favorite jeans again? Looking and feeling fabulous again? That’s CoolSculpting – Get the body you desire without surgery, downtime, or unsightly scars.
CoolSculpting is the leading non-invasive fat reduction procedure recommended by medical professionals worldwide – Freeze away that unwanted stubborn fat permanently.
What Is Fat Freezing Treatment?
CoolSculpting – The FDA approved procedure uses cold temperatures to reduce localized fat deposits or bulges that do not respond well to diet and exercise. CoolSculpting, which is also medically known as Cryolipolysis, is arguably the most advanced, innovative nonsurgical fat reduction alternative to invasive options such as liposuction. This non-invasive fat freezing treatment is proven to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat naturally without any downtime. The difference between CoolSculpting fat freezing and invasive surgery is you get targeted fat loss without any pain, physical exertion, unsightly scars, or prolonged recovery time.
How does fat freezing work?
The technology behind Cryolipolysis was invented in part by observing children and what can happen when they eat popsicles. “Cold-induced fat necrosis” was reported to occur after young kids ate popsicles that rested on their cheeks for several minutes.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH COOLSCULPTING - FAT FREEZING?
You may be wondering how does freezing fat work and what to expect during your CoolSculpting session? Let’s break it down.
The technique is based on research that concludes that fat cells are more susceptible to damage from cold temperatures apposed to other cells, such as skin cells. The cold temperature injures the fat cells while leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. The injury triggers an inflammatory response by the body, which results in the death of the fat cells. Macrophages, a type of white blood cells and part of the body’s immune system, is “called to the injury location,” to rid the dead fat cells and debris from the body.
The process of fat freezing
First, a gel pad is applied to the treatment area, this is used to protect the skin during the treatment process. Once applied a handheld applicator is placed on the targeted area. Following application of the applicator, the fatty bulge is suctioned into the hollow opening of the application gradually freezing the layers of fat cells to 3 degrees Celsius (39.2 degrees Fahrenheit). During this process you may feel a slight tugging or pulling sensation as suction is applied. These sensations, intense cold, plus other possible sensations – tingling, stinging, aching, cramping – Should subside after 5 to 10 minutes as the area becomes numb during the cooling down process. The treatment can take up to 1 hour per area, however each patient’s session will vary in time, as everyone’s aesthetic goals are different, as well as the size of the area being treated which is why we recommend a consultation with one of our highly trained medical staff members. After the area is treated, the applicator is removed. The area may be massaged for 2 to 3 minutes to assist with the breakdown of the fat cells.
This FDA approved Cryolipolysis treatment is safe and effective when used to treat fat deposits in the following areas:
- Beneath the chin – Also known as a double chin, or ‘turkey neck’.
- Upper arms.
- Inner and outer thighs.
- Abdomen.
- Hips – Also known as ‘love handles’.
- Upper and lower back.
- Underneath the buttocks.

BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER COOLSCULPTING FAT FREEZING TREATMENT?
Here are 5 things you should do before your fat freezing appointment:
- Avoid taking any medications or supplements that thin your blood, such as aspirin, fish oil or St. Johns Wort. These all have blood thinning properties that can make you more susceptible to bruising. It’s best to stop taking them at least one week before your session. However, before doing that please talk to your family doctor to make sure it’s okay. Your doctor may also suggest alternative medications that you can take during this time.
- Avoid damaging your skin in the target area. The CoolSculpting® treatment involves some massaging and suctioning of the area being treated. If your skin is cut or excessively bruised, you might need to postpone your treatment to prevent your wound from getting worse.
- Avoid tanning your skin in the target area. Tanning can make your skin more sensitive to treatment. To minimize discomfort, it’s best to protect your skin from the sun exposure before your treatment.
- Eat healthy before your treatment. A healthy body makes it easier and faster for results to appear, since you’ll be functioning at an optimal level.
- You might want to consider stopping smoking for about a week before your session, too. Smoking can impede the healing process, delaying your results.
Here are 5 things you should do during your fat freezing appointment:
- Make sure to wear loose clothing that’s comfortable. You’ll also need to wear underwear and a bra. Your undergarments should be what you’d wear while lounging around at home, not the expensive ones you’d wear on a date! This is because gel is applied to your skin, and this gel might get on your underwear.
- You might want to consider bringing a change of clothes just in case.
- Don’t arrive to your appointment on an empty stomach – eat a light meal just to see you through your session.
- Make sure to bring along a book, iPad, or other item to keep you occupied during your session. Although we offer advanced DualSculpting technology, allowing you to treat two areas at once in half the time, some entertainment will help make the time pass faster, as it can take 1-3 hours depending on how many areas you target.
- Be prepared to have some photos taken of the targeted area before your session. We’ll take the photos before and after your treatment so that you can easily see the improvement once you return to your follow up appointment in 3 months or so.
Here are 5 things you should do after your fat freezing appointment:
- Massage the treated area – This will improve blood circulation aiding in the treatment process.
- Keep active – Incorporating a workout regimen will contribute to increased lymphatic blood circulation which can enhance and maintain results.
- Keep a well-balanced, healthy diet – Avoiding sugary foods and beverages.
- Keep hydrated – Typically drinking a minimum of 2.5 liters of water per day to help aid in the removal of dead fat cells through the lymphatic system is recommended.
- Minimize caffeine and alcohol intake.
- Give your body time and adhere to your treatment plan.
What not to do After Fat Freezing Treatment?
For optimal results we recommend following these guidelines after your CoolSculpting fat freezing session:
- Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating such as hot baths, steam rooms, saunas, or heavy exercise for at least 1 week after treatment.
- Avoid applying any medicated oils on the treatment area.
- Avoid exposing the treated area to sun for up to 1 week after treatment.
- Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before, and 24 hours after the treatment to minimize bruising.
- Avoid foods that contribute to weight gain such as sugars, carbs, fried and processed foods.
- Avoid waxing the treated area for at least 1 week after treatment.
- Avoid laser treatments for up to 2 weeks.
COOLSCULPTING TREATMENT RESULTS?
Let’s talk fat freezing results and what to expect – After the fat cells in the targeted area have been frozen and effectively killed off, your body begins to take charge from the destruction. Over the course of several weeks to months, your body’s natural ‘cleanup’ process is started. The ‘cleanup’ process gradually eliminates and excretes the dead cells through the liver to be passed out as waste which in turn makes the cells unable to regenerate as they are permanently destroyed from the body. As these fat cells are cleared the full effects of the treatment will be revealed. Studies have shown that some patients will notice slight results within 3 weeks however, within 4 months post treatment session, on average a fat reduction of 15-28 percent is seen.
FAT FREEZING TREATMENT COST?
Each patient’s total cost will vary quite significantly, this is based on each patient’s personal aesthetic, size of treatment area, and desired goals. You may have only one problem area you want to treat, while others will have multiple problems areas, meaning each patient will have a different amount of session as well which impacts the cost. On average typically the cost for CoolSculpting treatments can range from $2,000 to $4,000. You will work with your doctor to design a plan that will best meet your personal goals.
