Surround yourself with older people and you will look younger, according to research out of the Psychology department at Germany’s Jena University.
The study, led by Professor Dr. Stefan R. Schweinberger, has found that although you may be good at guessing the age of someone physically near you, your estimate will usually be quite off, in your favour, after looking at others who are older for a long time. Researchers found this to be true after participants gazed intently at people of an older age group. Adapting to the faces of the older group made it more difficult for the participants to determine the age of someone younger, and they were systematically wrong in their guesses. The younger subjects were middle aged.
On the other hand, participants who adapted to the faces of younger people were also wrong in guessing the ages of older subjects – they systematically guessed subjects to be much older.
Try testing this out yourself and see if you get the same results. You might find that after your BOTOX or dermal filler treatment, you might look even younger than your friends!
