Weight Loss Tip #3: A Food Diary

Here’s a weight loss tip that can help tremendously if you’ve been battling the bulge but haven’t seen any significant improvement: keep a food diary.

If you write down everything you’ve eaten and drunk, plus jot down the caloric value of each food beside it (if possible), you’ll be able to see the amount of calories you’re consuming on a daily basis. It’s a far better gauge than estimating what you’ve had through the day; in fact, most dieters underestimate how much they’ve consumed by up to half!

But you have to be honest about it – everything counts! By reviewing your intake, you can figure out what improvements can be made to decrease calories so that you’re creating a deficit, which is how weight loss is achieved. For example, you may want to switch out your grande flavoured latte that has about 250 calories, with a skinny, which is only about 120. Even if you’re still noshing on healthy snacks, you can always take the time to fill out your food diary.
