In today’s age, we’re spoiled for choice – even when it comes to anti-aging products. Making the right choice for the procedure and product you use comes down to a lot of factors. While we can’t decide for you, we can give you the 411 on why many medical professionals prefer Juvéderm to Restylane.
Juvéderm and Restylane are both FDA-approved hyaluronic fillers. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is already present in the body, but depletes over time. These injectable gels essentially fill your skin with HA, smoothing out wrinkles and lines in the face.
Juvéderm is used on the lips and deep wrinkles to give your skin a fuller, fresh look. It is ideal for use on laugh lines, and the lines in between your nose and mouth (sometimes called ‘parentheses’ or nasolabial folds). It is generally reserved for more noticeable wrinkles and lasts longer. Microscopically, Juvéderm is a smoother compound that it’s counterpart, and many professionals agree that it gives a smoother finish than Restylane. The design of the needle also makes it easier to inject, allowing for a more precise treatment every time.
Both products boast long-lasting results, but are not permanent, and aside from a little tenderness and swelling, the side effects are minimal. Clinical studies have found that Juvéderm is associated with fewer and less severe side effects, when targeting the nasolabial folds in particular.
