Science has discovered that there are two types of fat: good and bad. Good or “brown” fat has the ability to burn calories at the same time as when it is generating body heat. Bad fat, which is white, simply accumulates in problem areas, usually around the waist, adversely affecting our body contour and creating that “muffin top” appearance.
CoolSculpting is a great way to help reduce the amount of white fat, also considered bad, that accumulates on your body.
Interestingly, scientists at John Hopkins University say that they now have a way to convert bad fat into good. They have found that by suppressing a protein responsible for stimulating the appetite, known as NPY, the overall food intake of rats decreased, and a portion of bad fat was converted into good fat. Further research is necessary to ensure the same positive effect can be safely achieved in humans, but the researchers are hopeful.
