The difference between laser skin tightening and skin resurfacing

Wrinkled, sagging skin is a top complaint among women, but luckily there are a few surgical and non-surgical procedures to fix it. We look at the difference between laser skin tightening, and laser skin resurfacing, two procedures using laser heat to bring your tired skin back to life.

Laser skin tightening is a procedure in which a laser is used to heat collagen under the skin’s surface. The collagen then increases in production and quality, making the skin feel and look tighter. It’s a great option for mild cases of wrinkles, and requires little recovery time.

Laser skin resurfacing, as the name suggests, removes the top layer of the skin revealing smooth, healthier skin underneath. It can be used on deeper wrinkles, but because it is actually removing the top layer of skin, other issues such as sun spots, crow’s feet and discoloration can be treated, too.

Laser skin tightening can be used on the face and body, while resurfacing is more suited to facial and hand rejuvenation. Patients may feel some slight discomfort during the procedure, but this quickly dissipates after the treatment. Results can be seen in as little as 60 days, and both treatments are affordable so you can keep your skin looking youthful and revitalized.
