The summer means only one thing if you’ve got a fair complexion – sunburns! Low levels of melanin (skin pigment) causes your skin to react almost immediately to the sun’s rays, which are strongest at this time of year. After just a a few minutes in the sun without protection, your skin turns red, and never develops into that golden bronze other complexions get. You may also notice freckles multiplying exponentially acoss every part of your exposed skin.
If you’ve gotten a sunbrn, the first thing you should do is cool your skin with aloe vera. Products with aloe vera are fantastic for sunburned skin, cooling, hydrating and easing redness and dryness. Make sure that you don’t rub the skin when applying the product, since your skin will be extremely sensitive and treating it roughly can damage it easily. Discomfort may be eased with aspirin or ibuprofen.
The next time you go out after you’ve gotten a sunburn, make sure to slather on the sunscreen before you put any makeup on. Wait at least 20 minutes before heading outdoors, allowing the sunscreen to get absorbed by your skin.
