Everyone says that the skin is delicate around the eyes, but do you know why? It’s mainly due to the fact that it’s very thin.
The skin around the eyes is much thinner than in other areas of the face and body. It measures only about .005 cm, or.002 inches if you want the imperial equivalent. Either way you look at it, there’s no doubt that with its thinness coupled with the almost perpetual movement of the muscles in the area, the overlying skin is susceptible to lines, wrinkles and creases. Aging can also cause the fat deposits that contribute to a youthful appearance to disintegrate. Crow’s feet and bags, although minor, can develop even in adolescence if you don’t take care of the area. Skin tightening treatment can help these problems.
The most important thing to remember when tending to the fragile skin around your eyes is to be very gentle in whatever you do. From applying cream to putting on eyeshadow, never rub or tug the area. You want to avoid stretching the skin unnecessarily, since it already gets a workout from everything it has to do everyday (blinking, looking, squinting, etc.). Remember to use creams and serums that are formulated for the area, and apply sparingly since you don’t need to use so much.
