Avoiding Sun Exposure After Fraxel

Fraxel Skin Resurfacing Toronto is a treatment frequently recommended to patients with pigmentation problems. This technology is specially designed to erase the spots and blotches that develop due to genetics or with frequent sun exposure. A bonus of treatment is that it also addresses fine line, wrinkles and stretch marks to a certain extent!

Fraxel is particularly effective for men and women who have found other skin treatments unsuccessful. However, while most patients are pleased with the results of their treatments, others may find that more hyperpigmentation results. This is really a side effect related to the recovery process.

Hyperpigmentation may appear following Fraxel Skin Resurfacing treatments if the patient does not protect their skin from sun exposure while recovering, and can be more common in darker skin tones. As with any laser-based skin treatment, patients must be vigilant against sun exposure by using sunscreen, covering up and remaining out of the sun altogether at peak times (from 10 am to 4 pm or so). It is important to do this prior to treatments as well, so the patient goes in with skin that is not compromised already (which can make the recovery process longer).

For a suitable sunscreen for your skin, talk to us after you’ve had your Fraxel Skin Resurfacing treatment. We can recommend a product that acts to protect your skin as well as replenish the moisture levels in your skin.
