Everybody is in the pursuit of happiness, but to be successful at attaining it you need to have the right mindset. Here are 4 changes you should make in your mental state to be happier.
1. Perceive the world as friendly, not hostile. If you think everyone is out to get you, then you can’t help but feel victimized, upset and angry about it. Instead of feeling that way, why not be more understanding and sympathetic? Someone may have bumped into you on the street and not said excuse me, but instead of feeling affronted, think about why they may have done that. They may not have known that they bumped into you or actually did say excuse me but you may not have heard it.
2. Feel gratitude for three things right now. Write them down and allow those feelings to wash over you – it will help reduce your stress levels, make you feel less lonely and you may even sleep better!
3. Don’t beat yourself up over things. Just because you made a mistake, that doesn’t mean you should condemn yourself over it. Speak to yourself kindly, like you would to a good friend. After all, how can you love someone else if you don’t know how to love yourself?
4. Don’t force yourself to be happy. Let it come naturally by doing things that make you happy.
